Trichy: A 39-year-old auto driver was arrested on charges of murdering two people following a scuffle between them. The incident took place at Palakkarai in Trichy on Tuesday night.According to police, the victims have been identified as Prakash, 38, a painter and a native of Pillaiyar Koil Street in Devathanam and his friend Rajkumar, 32, a labourer and a resident of Viraguppettai in East Boulevard Road.Police said that both victims, who were in an inebriated condition, were standing in front of a Tasmac outlet at Devathanam and reportedly were having a verbal altercation. At that time, Jagannathan, an auto driver and a resident of East Buleward Road was going to meet his friend along the Tasmac.Upon seeing Prakash and Rajkumar fighting, Jagannathan started to record it on his mobile phone. When the duo saw that, they entered into a verbal altercation with Jagannathan. At one point the duo even snatched the phone from him.Angered by this, Jaganathan left the spot. However, he came back with four accomplices and stabbed both Prakash and Rajkumar with a knife he was carrying and fled the spot.Meanwhile, Jaganathan appeared before the Fort station police and surrendered. tnn
