TRICHY: Tamizhaga Valvurimai Katchi ( TVK ) president T Velmurugan has called for a procession in Chennai on February 28 against the appointments of residents of northern states to government posts in Tamil Nadu “North Indian people are given jobs in the government and state and central government-funded institutions in the state while the same is denied to Tamils. Overall 1.5 crore people from north India are residing in Tamil Nadu. They dominate the trade sector. Condemning the trend, we are organising a mega procession towards St George Fort in Chennai,” Velumurugan said in Trichy on Friday.He was in Trichy to convene a district consultation meeting of his party. Velmurugan said he wanted a law making it mandatory that Tamils should be appointed to the offices as is followed in some other states.Accusing Tamil Nadu governor Banwarilal Purohit of delaying the release of seven convicts in Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, he said the party would form a human chain against the death sentence on March 9.On forming alliance for Lok Sabha polls, the PMK splinter party leader said it would establish ties with a party having respect for them. “PMK copied our 10 demands. They seem to have no shame in joining hands with anyone,” he said.
