Trichy: A 19-year-old youth, who attacked an 18-year-old girl for rejecting his overtures in Woraiyur, was arrested on Wednesday night.The Woraiyur police arrested A Kamaludeen, 19 from Ashok Nagar in Woraiyur on Wednesday night based on a complaint from the girl, who lived nearby.According to her complaint, Kamaludeen barged into her house on Wednesday evening when she was alone at home. He abused her verbally and went onto physically harass and assault her. When she resisted, he threatened her with dire consequences.Acting on the complaint, the police caught him and conducted inquiries with him and the complainant. Investigation revealed that he was in love with her but she did not reciprocate. He continued to pester her and did so several times for the past six months, said the police. She was firm on her decision.Out of frustration over the rejection, Kamaludeen entered her house and assaulted her.The police registered a case under section 294 (b), 323, 506 (i) of woman harassment Act. He was produced in the court and remanded in judicial custody.
