Since several native tree saplings and horticulture plants were grown closer to the track, residents also expressed concern over the green cover getting damaged.
When contacted, officials sources with the Ponmalai Zone of Trichy Corporation assured to take action.
If it is left unattended, it will pave way for mosquito menace,” H Ghouse Baig, a resident of Khajamalai added.
Trichy: Weeks after a new walking track on Race Course Road was opened for public use by the Trichy Corporation, residents of Khajamalai have raised complaints about frequent seepage of sewage along the compound walls of Ambedkar government hostel. The new walking track for about 1.16km distance constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 73 lakh is well received by residents of Subramaniapuram and TVS tollgate and students practising in the district sports complex nearby.
However, for the past few days, sewage, suspected to be from the campus of Ambedkar government hostel is being discharged and stagnating the track.Commuters have complained the discomfort they face in accessing the stretch due to the foul smell emanating from the sewage.“The bad odour keeps pedestrians away from the track in the particular stretch close to the government hostel.
