‘Ready to contest polls sans common symbol’

We have confidence in the Supreme Court. We will get our cooker symbol on March 25 failing which we are ready to face the people. Our candidates may contest in different symbols but people will recognise them. Come what may, no one can stop us from contesting the elections,” Dhinakaran told reporters after inaugurating the headquarters office for the Trichy parliamentary constituency here on Wednesday evening.Sarubala Thondaiman, a former Congress mayor of Trichy Corporation is the AMMK candidate for Trichy.Dhinakaran said that party candidates could file their nominations only on March 26 after the Supreme Court judgement on the symbol case.AMMK had released the list of candidates for 20 parliamentary constituencies and nine assembly segments which go for by-elections along with Lok Sabha elections.“Next list will be released on March 22 and the manifesto will be out the same evening,” he said.On the possibility of his candidature from Theni parliamentary constituency, he said that it will be made known on March 22. The R K Nagar MLA said that he had no strategy to face the elections now. “Why should we have a strategy since people are our side?. Those who try to persuade people will strategize. We will seek votes from the people,” he said.Dhinakaran refused to comment on the impact of the new entrant Kamal Haasan-led Makkal Needhi Maiam in the ensuing elections.Earlier in the day, he was in Thanjavur to observed the first death anniversary of M Natarajan, husband of V K Sasikala. He told the reporters that AMMK under the leadership of Sasikala was another faction of the AIADMK. “Since we are struggling for our rights, we are not registering our party.
