177 sensitive polling booths in Trichy

Trichy: A day after finalising the candidates for Trichy parliamentary constituency, district collector and election officer, Sivarasu on Saturday said that the election machinery was in full swing to ensure the peaceful conduct the polls. Anyone of them will be in place in the identified booths,” Sivarasu told reporters here.The collector also said that the constituency has 1,662 polling booths in 679 locations.Trichy parliamentary constituency consists of six assembly segments – Trichy west, Trichy east, Srirangam and Thiruverumbur in Trichy district, Pudukottai and Gandharvakottai in Pudukottai district.The constituency has the total number of voters of 14,89,267 including 7,30,668 male, 7,58,459 female and 140 transgender. In Trichy district comprising nine constituencies there are a total 22,21,674 voters including 10,84,110 male, 11,37,378 female and 186 female voters as on the final list released on January 31, 2019.The imposition of the model code of conduct (MCC) also led to the registration of cases for violating the poll code. Police registered 47 such cases for the violations.The collector appealed to the voters to carry any one of the 12 identity cards declared by the election commission of India (ECI) along with booth slips for voting.
