Trichy: A police constable attached to the armed reserve police in Ariyalur district was booked by the Trichy city police for cheating a woman police constable on the promise of marrying her and causing miscarriage, here on Friday.The All women police station (AWPS), Cantonment, registered a case against P Bharathiselvan, 30, of T Palur in Ariyalur district, his family members Pandian, Bhavani and Kanimozhi, based on the complaint from a woman constable with the armed Reserve police in Nagapattinam. He belongs to Vanniyar community while she a dalit.The police said that the woman and Bharathiselvam were working in the Tamil Nadu Special Police (TSP) battalion in Trichy from January 2013 to August 2018. The complainant alleged that the two were in a relationship and he had promised to marry her, during which she got pregnant. She accused him of forcing her to terminate the pregnancy.In 2016, she was shifted to Nagappattinam while he was moved to Ariyalur. The woman said that he assured her that he will marry her at any cost. However, his parents were against the relationship and turned it down. She accused the three of abusing her verbally by using her caste name. A case registered against them including Bharathiselvan for cheating, raping and causing miscarriage under IPC and SC/ST Act.
