more-in Elaborate arrangements are being made for the ‘Masi Teppam,’ an important float festival of the Srirangam Sri Ranganathaswamy temple, scheduled for March 8. The float festival will be held on the 6.5 acre temple tank which is dry now. The temple authorities are making arrangements to get water in the tank in time for the festival. As the tank is surrounded by a number of coconut and mango groves, a meeting with the farmers was convened. “The farmers have agreed to draw water from their borewells and supply it to the tank,” an official told The Hindu here on Friday. Supply channels from the private bore wells to the tank have been dug to facilitate maximum realisation of water. This apart, a deep bore well has been set up up to a depth of 105 feet on the bund of the tank and water would also be pumped from this. This is the second time that such a critical situation is being witnessed. A similar situation prevailed in 2002, the officials said.
