Velankanni RajAround 1,400 government employees and teachers affiliated to JACTTO-GEO were taken into custody when they staged a road blockade near the District Collectorate on Tuesday. The protesters, including 850 women, raised slogans demanding withdrawal of contributory pension scheme and revival of the old pension scheme, implementation of the Seventh Pay Commission recommendations and payment of 20% interim relief and abolition of NEET. All detained persons were released later in the day.
