Fourteen idols unearthed at temple construction site in Thanjavur district

On informing the temple authorities, the work was resumed in the presence of the temple construction committee chairman Rangasami and members. A large number of villagers visited the spot to get a glimpse of the idols. In order to safeguard the idols, they have decided to keep them at the icon centre in Kumbakonam for now, he added. Many idols were slightly broken. The height of the idols measured between 10 and 30 inches.When contacted, RDO said that they were yet ascertain whether the idols were panchaloha or something else.It will be known only after a thorough examination by an expert.
