Order fresh inquiry in sexual harassment case: Kin of victims

Trichy: Relatives of the 18 women track maintenance employees - who were allegedly sexually harassed by their superior, petitioned the Trichy divisional officials to order a fresh inquiry into the matter. Based on the interim report filed by the inquiry committee, R Manivannan was transferred to Pattukottai. "Even after inquiry, the women are still being harassed, in another form. Hence, the concerned officials should immediately look into the matter and help the women earn a living with dignity." They said that no action was taken as per the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act 2013, said K K Rajesh, a relative of one of the women.

Trichy: Relatives of the 18 women track maintenance employees - who were allegedly sexually harassed by their superior, petitioned the Trichy divisional officials to order a fresh inquiry into the matter. Expressing displeasure over the way the first inquiry was conducted, they staged a demonstration in front of the office of the divisional railway manager (DRM)'s office in Trichy urging the railway authorities to award maximum punishment against the erring engineer.The 18 employees working in Mayiladuthurai in Trichy railway division lodged a complaint against their immediate superior R Manivannan, a senior section engineer. Based on the interim report filed by the inquiry committee, R Manivannan was transferred to Pattukottai. Subsequently, transfer orders were also issued to the 18 complainants. However, the order has been put on hold, as the inquiry has not been completed yet, official sources said.Meanwhile, expressing displeasure on the outcome of the inquiry, relatives and spouses of the 18 women submitted a petition to Trichy DRM here on Wednesday.They alleged that even after two months, no concrete action has been taken by the administration. They said that no action was taken as per the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act 2013, said K K Rajesh, a relative of one of the women. "Even after inquiry, the women are still being harassed, in another form. Request for leave, rest is being denied and there is no security for them. Hence, the concerned officials should immediately look into the matter and help the women earn a living with dignity."
