Tension grips Udaipur village as man brutally killed over property dispute

UDAIPUR: Tension prevailed in Kharsan village under Kheroda police station in Udaipur district on Friday after a man was killed by his paternal cousins reportedly over some property dispute between their families, a day ago. There was no one inside the house as the family members had reportedly left their homes anticipating unrest. The accused reportedly ran their tractor over his body and after sometime one of them called up the 108 ambulance reporting the incident as an accident. Villagers took the body to the accused's home and set it ablaze. They unanimously decided to teach a lesson to the accused for the brutal killing and so the body was taken to their homes.

Villagers took the body to the accused's home and set it ablaze. The villagers also burnt the tractor parked outside the house.During the incident, no one in the village was allowed to use their mobile phones and when few tried to click pictures, their mobiles were destroyed. Additional forces were pressed into service sensing the intensity of the situation and policemen, including battalion of Mewar Bhil Core, Rajasthan Armed Constabulary, were deployed in the area till late evening, though police claimed that situation is under control.“We have arrested three men who reportedly attacked the deceased and situation is totally under control," additional SP (rural) Narayan Singh told TOI.The victim Fatehlal Menaria (40) was working in his field on Thursday evening when his uncle Omkar and his two sons Jagdish and Jaswant attacked him. They hit on his head and legs thus damaging the femur. The accused reportedly ran their tractor over his body and after sometime one of them called up the 108 ambulance reporting the incident as an accident. The victim was brought to the civil hospital in Udaipur where he died late night. Police arrested the accused in the night and on Friday morning the body was handed to his family members after autopsy.However, the incident triggered much anguish among the community people who gathered in hundreds by morning. They unanimously decided to teach a lesson to the accused for the brutal killing and so the body was taken to their homes. Both the accused and victims being relatives, their ancestral homes were side by side and hence Fatehlal's body was placed inside the accused's house and set ablaze. There was no one inside the house as the family members had reportedly left their homes anticipating unrest. Authorities said they have not received any complaint on the houses and tractor put on fire, however, life is normal in the area and security is tightened to hold any untoward incident further.
