UDAIPUR: Nearly a month old case of roadside hooliganism allegedly by junior minister for panchayati Raj Dhan Singh Ravat’s son Rajveer surged up again after CCTV footage of the incident went viral on social media on Saturday.The incident had taken place on June 1 but its CCTV footage surfaced on Saturday. In the video clip, the minister’s son is seen slapping a youth apparently for failing to give side to his jeep at Maharana Pratap Circle near Vidhyut colony in Banswara city. His aides then broke the window panes of the youth’s car.TOI called up the state minister for a quote but he failed to respond.The police, however, said the matter had been settled mutually long back. Banswara SP Kaluram Rawat said, "On getting information about the incident, the policemen concerned had met the victim's father but the family said it did not want to lodge a complaint or register any case."According to police sources, one Prerak, son of Jalaj Upadhyaya, was driving in his car while Raja's jeep happened to be behind on June 1. The jeep driver tried to overtake the car but due to an ongoing construction work, Prerak could not give side and this infuriated Raja. Once the jeep driver finally overtook, he stopped the jeep few meters ahead of Prerak’s car. According to sources, Raja then got down and walked up to Prerak’s car, forcefully pulled him out and thrashed him. When Prerak tried to run, Raja chased and thrashed him, while his aides damaged the car.The people on the road watched the incident and informed police. The matter was, however, not registered. The matter surged up by late Saturday evening when CCTV footages of the incident went viral on social media.Prerak's father Jalaj told media that his son was beaten up by some youths few days ago but he did not know if the assailants were the minister’s son and his aides.Jalaj said that he did not want his son, who was studying in another city, to run between police stations and courts pursuing the case.
