Rajasthan US woman gets back her lost bag thanks railways

JAIPUR: Showing utter dutifulness and dedication in performing their duties, two train ticket examiners (TTEs) posted at Jaipur and Udaipur respectively not only traced the valuable bag of an American passenger, but they ensured that she got the bag before boarding her flight to Delhi. "She arrived on Wednesday at 1.30 pm. In the evening, she realized that she has left a bag in the train compartment. She immediately rushed to the Jaipur railway station and went to the head ticket collector (HTC) office. She informed about her bag to one Ravindra Sharma, train ticket examiner and asked if he can find her bag. By this time, the Udaipur-Jaipur train had already left for Udaipur. Sharma was clueless but assured every possible help to the woman," said a senior officer of NWR on Friday.Ravindra Sharma, TTE, Jaipur receiving award from TP Singh GM, NWRAn optimistic Sharma called up HTC office in Udaipur and informed the staff about this bag. "I was praying that the bag of this American tourist should get traced and get delivered to her. This will certainly give a good name to India and Indian railways. I spoke to Karan Panwar, train ticket examiner who was on duty at the Udaipur railway station at HTC office on Thursday evening," said Sharma while talking to TOI.Thankfully the bag reached in the same compartment in Udaipur and no other passengers had touched it on the way, believing it to be of some other passenger's. "Panwar after getting the bag, rushed it to Jaipur by Khujrao Express. I got the bag in the morning and without wasting a second, rushed to the airport and contacted the tourist lady and handed over the bag to her," said Sharma.It was literally a race against time as the woman had to catch her flight at 9.30 am on Thursday morning. However Sharma managed it. The lady was amazed and had shown her gratitude by a message to Sharma on his WhatsApp, "Thank you so much sir. You really made my trip. I really appreciate all the effort you went through, my mom will really appreciate it. All the best and let me know when you are coming to New York," the woman said in her message.The bag had some handicraft which the woman had purchased for her mother.TP Singh, general manager, NWR felicitated both the TTEs: Ravindra Sharma posted in Jaipur and Karan Panwar posted in Udaipur.
