The Congress would now hold its first ‘Sankalp rally’ in Chittorgarh, which is part of the Udaipur division, on August 24. Congress president Rahul Gandhi might come for the concluding ‘Sankalp rally’ in October. The same day Raje would begin phase-II of her ‘Gaurav Yatra’ in Jodhpur division and complete it by September 2. The first ‘Sankalp rally’ would be held at Sanwalia Dham, a temple town around 40-km from Chittorgarh towards Udaipur. The opposition party would hold political rallies or ‘Sankalp rallies’ in divisions that have already been covered by Raje through her ‘Rajasthan Gaurav Yatra’.Raje launched the ‘Gaurav Yatra’ from Udaipur division on August 4 and completed its phase-I on August 10.

JAIPUR: The Congress would be ‘chasing’ chief minister Vasundhara Raje to mobilise people in its favour for the assembly elections due in December, party sources said. The Congress would now hold its first ‘Sankalp rally’ in Chittorgarh, which is part of the Udaipur division, on August 24. The same day Raje would begin phase-II of her ‘Gaurav Yatra’ in Jodhpur division and complete it by September 2. The Congress would follow her in the division with a ‘Sankalp Yatra’ at Barmer—a part of Jodhpur division—on September 5.Explaining the ‘chase Raje’ strategy, a Congress source said the opposition party has already covered the entire state with its political rallies in almost every district, while the chief minister was going in these areas now. “Congress will actually be revisiting the divisions after the Gaurav Yatra to keep its contact with the people intact,” the source said.Like Raje, the Congress too has planned its poll campaign from a temple town. The first ‘Sankalp rally’ would be held at Sanwalia Dham, a temple town around 40-km from Chittorgarh towards Udaipur. The Sanwaliaji (or dark Krishna) temple is said to be around two centuries old and has a huge following in the region. Raje had begun her ‘Gaurav Yatra’ from ‘Charbhujanath’ temple in Rajsamand district.Unlike Raje’s ‘Gaurav Yatra’ which is a series of political rallies in a division, the Congress would hold just one major ‘Sankalp rally’ each of the seven divisions. The Congress’ local leaders would, however, continue to hold rallies in their assembly areas and ask people to take a ‘sankalp’ (vow) to vote BJP out of power in the coming state elections. The main rallies in each division would be addressed by party’s top state leaders, including PCC chief Sachin Pilot, leader of opposition Rameshwar Dudi, AICC general secretaries Ashok Gehlot, C P Joshi, Jitendra Singh and Avinash Pande. Congress president Rahul Gandhi might come for the concluding ‘Sankalp rally’ in October.
