Three youths ‘tortured’ in police custody

One of the youths Suresh said that he had met with an accident at Lodha and his gold chain was broken. The youths told the reporters that police had caught the three of them in separate cases and were torturing them for getting out a confession. Medical experts who attended the youths said that they had several injuries on their bodies and even marks caused by sharp objects.However, Banswara SP KR Rawat refuted all allegations of torture and said that the accused had not been illegally held or tortured in custody and that they were booked under various cases. People took him to be a thief and informed the police who brought him to the station and have been torturing him since.Similarly, another youth Akshay said that he tried to strangulate himself with his trousers’ chain because the third degree torture was too much to bear. UDAIPUR : Three youths who were kept in a barrack at the Kotwali police station of Banswara city sustained injuries for some unknown reasons and had to be hospitalised.Sources claimed the youths had been kept in custody illegally for more than three days and were being tortured by the police to get their confession in different cases and hence they tried to commit suicide while the police authorities said the youths were arrested and kept in the barrack.The youths Akshay, Suresh and Ashish were brought to the civil hospital for treatment by the Kotwali police station on Monday midnight.
