3079 suspected swine flu cases found in screening

Among 1.7 lakh influenza-like-illness patients, 3 ,079 persons were categorized as suspected swine flu patients. The health department provided them Tamiflu tablets, which is the only medicine for treatment of swine flu. JAIPUR/UDAIPUR: Amid scare of swine flu, health department has reached out to 83.2 lakh people across the state for conducting their screening for swine flu in three days of its massive door-to-door campaign launched on January 21.First three days of the five-day campaign has brought shocking figures. The health department is monitoring their health. Among those given Tamiflu tablets were 937 pregnant women and 769 high risk group patients.According to sources, Pratapgarh collector’s driver Omkarlal was admitted to the swine flu ward few days ago.

JAIPUR/UDAIPUR: Amid scare of swine flu, health department has reached out to 83.2 lakh people across the state for conducting their screening for swine flu in three days of its massive door-to-door campaign launched on January 21.First three days of the five-day campaign has brought shocking figures. There were 1.7 lakh persons who were found suffering from influenza-like illness. The health department is monitoring their health. Among 1.7 lakh influenza-like-illness patients, 3 ,079 persons were categorized as suspected swine flu patients. The health department provided them Tamiflu tablets, which is the only medicine for treatment of swine flu. They have been given Tamiflu as precautionary measures. Among those given Tamiflu tablets were 937 pregnant women and 769 high risk group patients.According to sources, Pratapgarh collector’s driver Omkarlal was admitted to the swine flu ward few days ago. However, the patient was upset with the lack of facilities, poor ventilation and upkeep of the isolation ward. Rats ran up and down the room which looked more of a store room with equipment and furniture kept here and there. Within four hours of admission, the driver left the ward and went to Ahmedabad for treatment and when the district magistrate came to know of this incident, he rebuked the medical department authorities for the negligence. The collector also sent the SDM to visit the hospital on Tuesday where the officer found the conditions even more pathetic. The administration came heavy on the medical department on its casual approach.
