Udaipur, Oct 8 (PTI) Rajasthan Congress leaders on Friday put up a show of unity with Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and his former deputy Sachin Pilot along with other leaders travelling together to Vallabhnagar in Udaipur and addressing a rally ahead of the assembly bypoll there. Vallabhnagar will be going to polls along with Pratapgarh"s Dhariawad constituency where too the leaders are to address a rally in support of the party candidate on Friday. Addressing the rally, Gehlot said the party is united and exuded confidence that the Congress will return to power in the next assembly elections also. “The party in Rajasthan is united. Sometimes the news (to the contrary) is published in newspapers but do not pay heed to what is published in papers. Sometimes they make stories,” he said. Gehlot said all the leaders have unanimously decided the name of Preeti Shaktawat as the candidate for the Vallabhnagar seat. He said the ticket can be given to only one candidate. The chief minister said the true soldier of the party is the one who respects the party"s decision and works for it (despite not getting the ticket). Those who keep patience also get opportunities, he added. Former Deputy CM Sachin Pilot also said all leaders have unanimously agreed on the name of Preeti Shaktawat and Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi gave her the ticket. He said all the leaders have come to Vallabhnagar together. Maken and Dotasra also addressed the rally. Preeti Shaktawat is the wife of late Vallabhnagar MLA Gajendra Shaktawat, who died of COVID-19.
