Dahod woman held for abducting three-year-old girl

VADODARA: The local crime branch of government railway police (Western Railway) on Friday arrested a 55-year-old woman from Dahod for abducting a three-year-old girl two months ago from the Dahod railway station.Accused Zaali Bhabhor had abducted the girl while she was boarding a train to Godhra from Dahod railway station with her parents. Bhabhor took advantage and picked her up.The girl’s parents lodged a complaint with the Dahod railway police. Police said that the girl got separated from her parents due to the rush at the station. “CCTV footages caught the woman picking the girl up.

Three teams were formed by the LCB to trace the girl. “CCTV footages caught the woman picking the girl up. Her image generated from the footage was circulated amongst local police stations,” said S J Rajput , police inspector, LCB.On Friday, police got a tip-off that a woman similar to the accused was seen in a village in Dahod near the Gujarat- Madhya Pradesh border. Rajput said that Bhabhor was planning to travel on a MEMU train from Ratlam to Godhra. She told the cops that the girl had come to her after being separated. Bhabhor then took her to her daughter’s home, where she was taken care of for two months.The accused’s theory is under suspicion as she did not inform the cops after finding the girl. “She had even changed the kid’s name and trimmed her hair to avoid recognition,” said Rajput.
