Case filed for deaths due to electrocution in rain

The road leading to Rajesh Tower was inundated due to heavy rain in the city on June 25.According to complaint given by Vipul’s widow Meghna, her husband was walking towards his father’s car on the waterlogged road as the car’s headlights were on. When Vipul reached the gate of his residential society where an electrical feeder box also exists, he suffered an electric shock. The feeder box was half-submerged in water.Niranjan then went to rescue his son, but he too received an electric shock and collapsed. Their neighbours then called ambulance, fire services and officials of Madhya Gujarat Vij Company Ltd (MGVCL). The electricity connection was then snapped and the duo taken to Bhailal Amin General Hospital. They were declared dead on admission.The incident had raked up a controversy as MGVCL was blamed by the family and community members. A rally was also held by the deceased’s community demanding action against officials of MGVCL who were responsible for negligence. MGVCL then had to issue a public notice to inform that it was not because of them that the deceased had suffered the electric shock. The notice stated that they carried out an inspection of the location which revealed that it was society’s internal wiring that had led to the accident.In her FIR Meghna has blamed unidentified persons who got the feeder box installed. The complainant told police that they started living in this house from January this year and therefore does not know the persons behind the installation of the feeder box there.
