VADODARA: A youth was accused of trying to abduct a child, was beaten up and handed over to police in a village near Godhra. An offence, accusing the man of trying to abduct a child, was also registered at Godhra taluka police station.According to sources, the incident took place at Dadhan Faliyu village in Godhra taluka in the early hours of Tuesday. Geeta Rathod, a resident of the village, stated that she was sleeping with her 18-month-old son, Krishnaraj, outside her home when the incident took place.According to Rathod, Vikram Kalubhai, a resident of Bagidol village in Godhra taluka, came near her son and was trying to pick him up. Rathod said that she sensed movement and woke up. The accused then allegedly left the child and fled the spot.Rathod raised the alarm and other villagers woke up. The accused was found along with a motorcycle in the village and was caught by residents. He was beaten up by the mob. Police were informed of the incident and rushed to the village.The accused was then admitted to Godhra Civil Hospital. Police registered an offence against him and have started their investigation. The motorcycle found with the accused was registered in Vadodara and police are gathering details. Sources said that a man who claimed that the accused worked for him rushed to the village on hearing about the incident.
