Couple cheated of Rs 5L by builders

Vadodara: A teacher at a private school and her husband were allegedly cheated of Rs 5 lakh by two realtors. As they liked the scheme, the deal was fixed at Rs 23 lakh and the couple was asked to pay Rs 5 lakh as the booking amount.Bhatt told police that between December 2014 and February 2015, she paid the duo Rs 5 lakh in various tranches. Several months later, Bhatt learned that the duo had sold the same apartment to Kadri. Some days later, the realtors told her the apartment was in a ‘disturbed area’. Later she was given the allotment letter for the apartment and applied for loan for the remaining amount.

Kirtika Bhatt approached police against the two builders – Safi Fruitwala and Asif Fruitwala – and Tausif Kadri, who bought the apartment which she had paid to book.According to police, Bhatt, who works at Podar International School, and her husband were looking for house near Sun Pharma Road in 2014, when they checked a site being developed by Safi and Asif. As they liked the scheme, the deal was fixed at Rs 23 lakh and the couple was asked to pay Rs 5 lakh as the booking amount.Bhatt told police that between December 2014 and February 2015, she paid the duo Rs 5 lakh in various tranches. Later she was given the allotment letter for the apartment and applied for loan for the remaining amount. Some days later, the realtors told her the apartment was in a ‘disturbed area’. The accused assured Bhatt that they would complete the procedure to get the requisite permission for her.The accused did not do anything to get permission and whenever the complainant asked them about it, they made some excuse or the other. Several months later, Bhatt learned that the duo had sold the same apartment to Kadri. Police said that when Bhatt confronted the accused, they admitted that they sold off the apartment but did not return her money.Bhatt kept asking the accused for her money and on not getting it filed a police case of cheating and criminal conspiracy against the trio.
