Burglars steal valuables from two Mandvi shops

Another goldsmith, Kalidas Soni, also found his ground-floor shop broken into.An unidentified person broke into Bera’s shop on the second floor of the building at around 2.30am, by breaking the lock on an iron grill and door using a cutter. The investigation found that the accused also broke the latches on iron grills installed on the staircases at the first and second floors.“There was only one perpetrator, who covered his face with a handkerchief,” said a police official. Before the burglar broke the locked drawers and stole 100g of gold and 150g of silver, he turned a camera so he would not be seen. However, another camera captured him, the official added.Bera told police he had received the gold from a jeweller in Panchmahal on July 3, to make ornaments from.Police said the burglar entered Soni’s shop by breaking the lock and a glass door.
