Chhota Udepur gets 100 mm rain

VADODARA: Chhota Udepur district had some respite on Thursday, after being pounded by 17 inches of rain on Wednesday. Kanteshwar village in Sankheda taluka was cut-off even though the district received just four inches of rain on Thursday. On Thursday morning, the two roads connecting Kanteshwar village to the rest of the district became unusable as Dhadhar river got swelled up. The Chhota Udepur district administration said that they remained in touch with the sarpanch of the village to take precautionary measures and make sure that communications are in place.“The mamlatdar of Sankheda is closely monitoring the situation and traffic to Kanteshwar is being diverted. If no rain falls till late in the night, an alternative route from Kasubiya will become active,” said an official.Kanteshwar village has a history of getting disconnected whenever the catchment area of the Dhadhar get heavy rainfall.
