Duo who fled to UP after robbing woman held

Vadodara: A week after they robbed a woman on Ajwa Road, the Bapod police arrested two accused who had fled to Uttar Pradesh. They have been brought to the city and the police will seek their remand on Monday.“After committing the crime, the duo had fled to their hometown in UP. The duo has been identified as Ankit Chaudhary (above), 20 and Vipin Kumar Chaudhary, 28. The police is yet to arrest the fourth accused identified as Ankur Chaudhary. A team of city police visited Uttar Pradesh and nabbed the duo from Gautambuddhnagar district on Sunday.

They have been brought to the city and the police will seek their remand on Monday.“After committing the crime, the duo had fled to their hometown in UP. We nabbed them from their home. We will now interrogate them about their role in the crime and if they have been involved in any more such offences,” said F K Jogal, Bapod police inspector. The duo has been identified as Ankit Chaudhary (above), 20 and Vipin Kumar Chaudhary, 28. While Ankit is pursing Bachelors in Commerce, Vipin left studies after passing HSC.The cops had already arrested one of the accused on July 9, minutes within the robbery happened. On July 9, they had robbed Vaishali Patel when she was withdrawing cash from the ATM on Ajwa Road. The accused diverted her attention by telling her that her debit card may not be working and asked her to press yellow button. One of the accused then told her that her transaction has been cancelled and asked her to move aside.He then operated the ATM and withdrew cash from her account. Patel realized that she has been cheated when she got an SMS from the bank notifying her about the withdrawal. She tried to stop the accused but they pushed her and fled from the spot in a car. The police said that their car broke down right outside Bapod police station following which the cops caught one of them identified as Nitesh Chauhan.Chauhan told the cops that they have been cheating people in similar fashion over last eight months.He also gave them names and addresses of his accomplices. The police is yet to arrest the fourth accused identified as Ankur Chaudhary.
