Boy’s body found in Mini river ravines

Vadodara: The body of a seven-year-old boy, who was allegedly kidnapped from outside his school in Nandesari, was found in the ravines of the Mini river near Angadh village on Tuesday morning.Sandeep Rathod had gone missing after his school closed early due to the heavy rain on Monday afternoon. As his parents did not know about the early finish, the boy’s uncle went to pick him up in the evening. Teachers told him that the students had been allowed to leave early.When Sandeep’s family members started inquiring with his classmates and friends, they learnt that he left went with a man on a motorcycle. Sandeep’s father, Ajitsinh Rathod, then looked for him in the neighbourhood. On not finding Sandeep, he registered a complaint of kidnapping at Nandesari police station.On Tuesday morning, residents of Angadh village found Rathod’s body and called police. While investigators have not found injury marks on Sandeep’s body, they are not ruling out foul play. “The boy’s parents said his maternal uncle’s home is close to where the body was found. They said it is possible that he was headed to his uncle’s and fell into the river. Any hypothesis about his death can be confirmed only after the postmortem report arrives,” said a police official.
