Vadodara: An autorickshaw driver was stabbed to death and his father injured in the melee outside a butcher shop near JP Road police station in Tandalja here on Sunday evening.Deceased Ilyas Memon (23), who lives on second floor of Amir Complex in Tandalja, had reached below his building in his autorickshaw. On parking outside the building, two accused Farhan Sheikh and his uncle Munna Sheikh, who owns Kabir Chicken Shop on ground floor, got into arguments with Memon. Meanwhile, the accused brought a knife from inside the shop.According to eyewitnesses, Munna held Memon from back while Farhan stabbed him. When Memon’s father Ayub went to save his son, he was also attacked by the duo. The two accused then fled from the spot. Locals said Memon succumbed to his injuries on the spot, while Ayub is under treatment in a hospital.A police official said a team has been formed to nab the duo. The police are also checking the footages of CCTV cameras of nearby buildings to know in which direction the duo escaped.A case of murder was registered against Farhan, Munna, Farhan’s father Faruk, mother Farida and their servant Parvez at JP Road police station late on Sunday night.In the first week of May, another autorickshaw driver identified as Mohammed Dawood Patel, who lived at Madina Park in Tandalja, was also stabbed to death in his house by unidentified persons. Even after two months of the incidents, police have failed to catch Patel’s assailants.
