History-sheeters nabbed for extortion threat to shopkeeper

Memon too had filed complaint against Ajju of threatening and extortion.Memon again filed a complaint against Ajju on Wednesday night. The police begun investigations in the case and nabbed three of Ajju, Javed and Arif while two others are yet to be arrested. Javed too is an accused in 17 offences including extortion, attempt to murder, assault, threatening and loot. Interestingly, Memon was booked by the police some months ago for opening fire at Ajju in the old city in May this year. He was an accused in the communal riots that broke out in the old city last year.

Vadodara: The detection of crime branch (DCB) arrested history-sheeter Azharuddin Sindhi alias Ajju Kaniyo along with two others in a case of extorting money from a shopkeeper in the city.Crime branch sleuths said that Mohammed Uvesh Memon, who has a shop in Mangal Bazaar, had filed a complaint against Ajju, Iqbal Sindhi, Arif Manjro, Javed Mansuri alias Pintoo and Khalid Mansuri, all residents of Wadi area.“The accused demanded Rs 1,000 per month from Memon for allowing him to operate his shop. They also demanded Rs 5 lakh from him towards the legal expenses they incurred to fight the case filed by him earlier,” police said.Memon had to even vacate his house in Panigate and stay in a rented home due to constant threats by the four. Interestingly, Memon was booked by the police some months ago for opening fire at Ajju in the old city in May this year. Memon too had filed complaint against Ajju of threatening and extortion.Memon again filed a complaint against Ajju on Wednesday night. All the three were paraded in public in Panigate area by the police on Wednesday. DCB sleuths said that Ajju has 32 offences including , extortion, attempt to murder, loot, rioting and assault registered against him in different police stations of the city.Ajju has been detained four times under the Prevention of Anti-Social Act (PASA) in the past and even externed twice. He was an accused in the communal riots that broke out in the old city last year. Javed too is an accused in 17 offences including extortion, attempt to murder, assault, threatening and loot.
