It came to light that Shabbir’s ex-wife Amina Dhobi who had taken a divorce in April this year had made an application to the district administration seeking removal of her husband’s name from the ration card that Shabbir had given to her as she was to take care of herself as well as their children.Executive magistrate (civil supplies) Manoj Mishra said that the estranged wife had given documents related to the divorce and sought that Shabbir’s name should be removed from the ration card. “The operator at the facilitation centre erroneously selected the wrong option in the system and chose dead instead of divorced. A certificate was also issued to the woman,” said Mishra.Mishra added that it was the woman who asked her daughter to give the certificate to her former husband. The husband noticed that the certificate mentioned that he was dead. “We can rectify the error and give him a ration card too. It was a bona fide clerical error that led to the situation,” said Mishra.
