Vadodara: The detection of crime branch (DCB) has arrested a middle-aged man, who tried to enter the high-security Vadodara Central Jail, by posing as a senior government officer.Sanka Prajapati, approached the security at the jail’s main gate and introduced himself as an under-secretary in the home department on Saturday and said he wanted to meet Dr Jayesh Patel, the founder of Parul University who is in the jail for allegedly raping a student. He then met the jail officials and even produced a fake identity card of home department.When asked to record his name in the entry register, Prajapati refused and said that senior government officers like him don’t need to do that formality. The jail officials on duty got suspicious and informed their superiors who verified Prajapati’s background with the state home department in Gandhinagar. “They learnt that there was no under-secretary by the name of Sanka Prajapati following which they confronted him,” said a DCB official.On Sunday, Prajapati was produced before a local court that remanded him to two days police custody.Prajapati told the cops that he considered Jayesh Patel’s daughter Dr Parul as his sister. Parul had met him on Friday and asked him to meet her father, whose health wasn’t in good shape. So he made a plan to meet Patel. He had prepared a fake ID card many years ago when did some private work for the home department.
