Former aide who shot at pulse mill owner ends life

Vadodara: A trader, who had shot at pulse mill owner Prasannchand Jain in Dahod on Saturday, allegedly committed suicide on Sunday.Bhupendra Darda was found dead in an open plot near Padwal Women’s Hostel under the jurisdiction of Dahod (rural) police station. A case of accidental death was lodged.Darda, a former business aide of Jain, had shot five rounds at him since the latter had stopped purchases through him.Darda believed that the slump in his business was because Jain stopped all purchases from him and was buying raw materials through some other broker. According to police, this was the same gun which he had used to open fire at Jain at the latter’s factory on Saturday morning. Police said that Darda’s body was noticed by a passerby.On reaching the spot, police found the gun lying beside his body and there was a wound of gunshot in his chest. However, no suicide note was found from him.Police said that it is a clear case of suicide because only one live cartridge was found from his gun.“The gun which he had used has magazine which can fit seven bullets.

He had already fired five on Saturday, one was recovered from his body and the last one was still in the gun,” said police sub-inspector B R Patel of Dahod Rural police station.Cops also said that Darda was a patient of depression since several years and was also very short-tempered.
