Vadodara: Residents of Karjan town observed a ‘bandh’ on Monday demanding arrest of a local BJP councillor who is a co-accused of abetment in a suicide case. Five agitators who forcibly tried to shut these shops were later detained by police.Police said that in the evening some residents took out a rally in the town without permission. However, certain shopkeepers kept their businesses open. They were detained and later released.Sources at Karjan police station said that two volunteers of Vishwa Hindu Parishad were also kept under house arrest to prevent the agitation from aggravating.Nagin had committed suicide on September 13 near his house because of his wife’s alleged extra-marital affair with Mushtakim.

As many as 47 persons including women were detained by the cops for protesting.Five were detained in the morning and 28 men and 14 women in the evening.Vadodara rural police had arrested Kailash Parmar, wife of Nagin Parmar who committed suicide, her paramour Mushtakim Patel and Patel’s father Shabbir Patel.
