Over 30k candidates register for 13th GSET

Vadodara: A total of 30,983 candidates will appear for Gujarat State Eligibility Test (GSET) which is conducted for determining eligibility for lectureship in universities and colleges of Gujarat.The 13th GSET will be held on September 30. The number of candidates who have registered in Surat, Rajkot and Vadodara are 4,700, 4,000 and 2,787, respectively.Of the total 23 individual subjects for which the test will be conducted, the maximum number of candidates have registered for commerce as a subject while only 72 candidates will appear for the test in subject of philosophy.For the 12th GSET, which was conducted in August last year, around 25,000 candidates had registered. MSU, which is the nodal agency for conducting GSET in the state, has decided to hold the examination as per the new guidelines of University Grants Commission (UGC).Unlike last year, when the examination was conducted at six centres across the state, this year, GSET will be conducted at 11 centres with addition of five new centres.“Looking at the incremental rate of candidates who are registering and appearing for the test and to ensure that such candidates do not face problems, we have decided to add five more centres of Valsad, Vallabh Vidyanagar, Godhra, Jamnagar and Bhuj,” said MSU vice-chancellor professor Parimal Vyas.According to professor C N Murthy, member secretary of GSET, as many as 7,000 candidates have registered for GSET at Ahmedabad centre.
