The detection of crime branch (DCB) busted the gang and cracked four cases of chain-snatchings that had occurred in the city over last few weeks. One of the accused is also involved in the chain-snatching incident that led to death of a 50-year-old woman near Waghodia Crossroads.Interestingly, police sub-inspector Sanjaysinh Jadeja, who committed suicide on Sunday morning, had cracked the cases and played a pivotal role in tracking down the gang. “The squad nabbed three persons moving around in suspicious manner near the Vaccine Institute ground. When frisked, the cops found a gold chain and three mobile phones from them,” said Jaydeepsinh Jadeja, DCP (crime).The trio identified as Sunil Parmar (20), Vijendrasingh Sikhligar (23) and Paresh Vaghela (20) then admitted to have been involved in the four chain snatchings reported at in Waghodia and Gotri. The police said that Vijendra and Sunil had snatched gold chain of a woman on Gotri Road and Vijendra along with Paresh had had targeted another woman on Waghodia Road.“Sunil had snatched Shanta Rohit’s chain when she was pillion riding with her husband on Waghodia Road on September 5. She fell from the bike and died due to injuries. He again repeated the crime when he snatched the gold chain of Ramila Parmar and pushed her from the motorbike in Gotri following which she suffered injuries,” Jadeja added. The cops have registered a case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder against Sunil after the death of Shanta and booked him for attempt to murder in Ramila’s case.“We have recovered all the looted gold jewellery from the accused. We are now investigating if they are involved in any other cases,” Jadeja said. Vijendra has earlier been arrested in five cases of chain snatching.
