Socioeconomic health aspects to be studied

Vadodara: While a team of researchers is presently studying the impact of urbanization on climate change, M S University researchers have bagged another project from the Department of Climate Change of Gujarat Government to study the effect of climate change on socio-economic and health aspects with Vadodara as a case study.In this joint research, the impact of climate change on socio-economic aspects will be studied by professor M N Parmar and Dr Satish Bodia from Faculty of Social Work while the study on effect of climate change on health aspects will be carried out by professor Neerja Jaiswal and Dr Shilpi Saraswat from Faculty of Family and Community Sciences.“For the health aspects, we will be carrying out sample surveys and collect data from all major hospitals,” said Dr Sanskriti Mujumdar, principal investigator of the research project.“Similarly, the financial losses caused due to flooding, especially in the low-lying areas will be carried out through sample survey,” she said.
