26-year-old gets life sentence for killing cousin’s fiancé

However, he could not prove that in the court.The court of additional sessions judge S C Gandhi upheld the scientific evidence and witnesses produced by the additional public prosecutor B S Purohit and punished Deore. He told the court that he did not have enmity with Vasava and had never threatened him.He even said that Vasava and the girl never got engaged and he got killed because of his enmity with some people because of his alcohol addiction. When Vasava’s brother Satish learnt about it, he reached the spot where Deore stabbed Vasava repeatedly in front of Satish.Deore had fled from the spot, but was arrested after a case of murder and violation of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act was registered against him at Bapod police station.During the trial, Deore denied all charges.

Vadodara: A 26-year-old man was awarded life imprisonment on Tuesday for killing his distant cousin’s fiancé in May last year as he was not happy with their marriage.An additional sessions court that pronounced the verdict also ordered the convict Mahesh alias Mukesh Deore to pay a compensation of Rs 20,000 to the deceased Jayesh alias Bhango Vasava’s father.Vasava (22) was stabbed to death by Deore following a brawl few hours before his wedding on the evening of May 20, 2017.According to the case details, Vasava, who ran a small shop near Bapod pond, was accused of kidnapping and raping a minor girl from Sonpur locality in Bapod. He was arrested and sent to judicial custody, but after he was released on bail he promised to marry the same girl once she became an adult.After the girl turned 18-year-old, the duo got engaged and used to meet regularly which irked Deore.The convict had fought with Vasava and had even threatened to kill him for his relationship with his distant cousin.
