Two from Virpur mamlatdar office succumb to swine flu

Vadodara: After three employees suffering from swine flu and two of them succumbing to it, the Virpur taluka mamlatdar office in Mahisagar district will undergo fumigation during the next couple of days. Panic triggers have been pressed in the taluka in wake of the fact that five swine flu cases have been reported there so far.Swine flu cases had started surfacing in the Mahisagar district this month. Out of the six cases that were tested positive, five were from the Virpur taluka. The test turned out positive,” he said.In wake of the panic situation, the officials have decided to get fumigation done in the office. We will have to keep the rooms closed after fumigation to ensure that it is effective,” said mamlatdar V D Patel.Health department has started extensive surveys in Virpur taluka in wake of the cases reported there.

Three persons had died due to the flu in the district and two of them were from Virpur taluka and both were employees of the Virpur mamlatdar office.Mahisagar district health officer Dr S B Shah said that the cases in Virpur had come to light around September 5 and the two employees of the mamlatdar office died soon after this.“We examined all the employees of the office and they were also given prophylactic treatment. The third person who tested positive had already been given oseltamivir and was not seriously ill. But he later complained of uneasiness and wanted a test to be done. The test turned out positive,” he said.In wake of the panic situation, the officials have decided to get fumigation done in the office. “The office is closed for three days from Friday. We will have to keep the rooms closed after fumigation to ensure that it is effective,” said mamlatdar V D Patel.Health department has started extensive surveys in Virpur taluka in wake of the cases reported there. Officials are concerned about the concentration of the cases in the taluka.
