Vadodara: A 13-year-old girl was allegedly molested by a man living in staff quarters of Polo Club at his house on Friday evening.The accused Mahendra Solanki (23) was arrested by Navapura police late on Friday night. The incident came to light when the girl’s mother reached Solanki’s house and caught him red-handed.Police said that the girl, who lived near the accused’s house, had gone there to light lamp for Ganesh festivities. Solanki’s family has installed Ganesh idol for the festivities. The girl’s mother told the police that when she reached home after work, her was daughter missing. Assuming that the girl must have gone to Solanki’s house for Ganesh festivities, she too went there.According to police, when the girl’s mother entered Solanki’s house, she found that Solanki had gagged her daughter and was molesting her. The girl later told her mother that Solanki tried to force himself on her and when she resisted, he gagged her and molested her.Immediately after the incident, the girl and her mother returned home and informed the girl’s father. They later approached Navapura police station where a case of molestation and violation of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act was registered and later Solanki was nabbed from his house.Police said that when the incident took place Solanki’s sister was taking bath and nobody else was present in the house. According to police sources, Solanki’s father works in the Polo Club while he works as a sweeper in a hospital. He is also married and has a daughter.
