Sarpanch tells bootlegger couple to stop sale thrashed

VADODARA: Raising her voice against bootlegging in her area proved costly for woman sarpanch of Ajod village near Vadodara city on Sunday evening.After receiving a series of complaints from villagers against the bootlegger couple - Ganpat Mali and Sumitra Mali - sarpanch Tara Parmar herself decided to stop the thriving illicit business in the village.Parmar said that the villagers had been raising objections against the couple allegedly selling country made liquor and Indian Made Foreign Liquor in the village over a long time. In the past she and other villagers had complained to cops at Vadodara Taluka police station, but the police never acted against them, she said.On Sunday evening, when Parmar learnt that the couple was again selling liquor, she reached there and asked them to shut their business and leave. "They were selling liquor loaded on their bike so I asked them to go away because it is illegal to indulge in such business.
