For the first time, the scripture that refers to the life of Lord Swaminarayan - has been inscribed on titanium plates The titanium manuscript that runs into 6,202 plates (12,404 pages, considering both the sides of the plates) and weighs into hundreds of kilos will be dedicated to the Vadtal Swaminarayan temple during a ceremony on Tuesday.The original hand-written manuscript which is in possession of the Vadtal temple was composed by saint Sadguru Aadharanand Swami, who had described the greatness and divinity of Lord Swaminarayan as well as the importance of Indian culture through the epic comprising of 1 lakh 'shlokas'.At the age of 59, the author, inspired by Lord Swaminarayan had started writing the scripture in Hindi while sitting at Vadtaldham in 1858. He had spent a total of 13 years, five months and 14 days to author the scripture whose height is four feet and weighs 33.150 kg. "For a long time, saints led by Swami Gyanjivandasji of the Shree Swaminarayan Mandir, Kundaldham were mulling over the options available with us to preserve the manuscript in such a way that it does face wear and tear for ages to come," said Alaukik Swami from the Karelibaug Swaminarayan temple.Under supervision of Gyanjivandasji, the original scripture was first scanned to get a digital image of all the pages. Later, using laser technology, the writings were inscribed on titanium plates each weighing 130 grams with 0.65 mm thickness. "The reason to use titanium instead of any other metal was because its non-corrosive features. Compared to steel, it is 50 % less in weight but double its strength," he said. "The temperature of lava is 1200 degree celsius whereas the melting point of titanium is 1,670 degree celsius. Similarly, the boiling point of titanium is 3,287 degree celsius," he said.The titanium manuscript, packaged in boxes, which are also made from the same metal, weigh 1,047 kg in total.From the Karelibaug Swaminarayan temple, where the titanium manuscript was prepared, the manuscript has reached its mother temple at Vadtal where it will be gifted to the temple in presence of Acharya Rakeshprasad and Swami Gyanjivandasji apart from saints, trustee and members of the temple board.
