Another sandalwood tree stolen from MSU campus

Vadodara: Days after two sandalwood trees were stolen from MS University (MSU) campus, another tree was stolen from botanical garden on the arts faculty campus.The theft came to light in the early hours of Monday when a worker reached the garden. According to police, the thieves stole the stem of the tree which stood at the gate of the garden. University officials said that the guards have been asked to be extra careful in those campuses where sandalwood trees are present.It was on November 15 that sandalwood trees were stolen from the official bungalow of university’s vice-chancellor and Chamelibaug which houses the university guest house. Police believe that the same gang of thieves that stole two trees last week could be involved in the recent incident. The stolen stem is estimated to be eight feet in height and value is estimated at Rs 20,000.The theft was registered at Sayajigunj police station late on Monday evening.

Security guards of private contractor have been hired.
