Vadodara: Two mobile phones and sim cards were found from two convicts lodged in Vadodara Central Jail on Friday.Police said during a surprise check on Friday afternoon in barrack 3 in yard 1 of the jail, the jail sepoys found a mobile phone from Shamsher Khan Pathan. Seeing the jail officials, another convict identified as Rafiq alias Munno Sama tried to throw a mobile phone out of the barrack 4 in which he is lodged. However, Zarda has not been named as an accused in the mobile phone case.Police officials said just because Sama said the phone was Zarda’s, he cannot be booked until there is evidence. But Sama was caught red-handed while trying to throw it away.When the jail personnel questioned him, Sama said the phone was not his, but belonged to Salim alias Salman Yusuf Zarda, who is one of the convicts in Godhra train burning case.

However, Zarda has not been named as an accused in the mobile phone case.Police officials said just because Sama said the phone was Zarda’s, he cannot be booked until there is evidence. “We will get call detail records of the sim card. If it is revealed that Zarda had also called his family members or any other person, we will add his name in the FIR too,” said a police officer.tnn
