Vadodara: The Faculty of Fine Arts Alumni Association brought together renowned artists from across the globe for fund raising exhibition at the MSU’s famed faculty of fine arts on Saturday. Artworks of over 60 artists, including stalwarts like K G Subramanyan, Bhupen Khakhar, Nagji Patel, Shanko Chaudhuri, Ranjitsinh Gaekwad among others, were put on display on Saturday.Chairman of the Fine of Arts Alumni Association professor Ratan Parimoo said, “The idea was conceptualised a few years back and efforts were made to get people together. We have contributed to causes earlier. So we thought of clubbing annual alumni meet with fund raising event and generate funds to help our department flourish more.”The money generated from the event will help create a scholarship fund for economically weaker students who want to study fine arts and in development of infrastructure of the fine arts faculty.“All the artists featured in the exhibition have a global reputation with very expensive artworks. The families of artists, who have passed away, have been supportive of the fund raising event,” said Pradeep Babar, organiser of the fund raising exhibition.Naina Dalal, an 84-year-old artist who specialises in lithography and is also one of the oldest alumnus of fine arts said, “Platforms like these is an excellent way to meet new artists and get to know their work and see how much the art in our faculty has evolved. I have always tried to tell stories through my paintings and tried to capture the laughter and innocence found in childhood in my paintings. However, I am very amazed at the new art work and it makes me happy that more people are taking interest in the field.”“The response we have received is overwhelming and has given us impetus to come back next year with more grandeur”, added Babar. The exhibition will open for public from December 9 to December 13.
