Our drive against haphazard parking will be intensified once all the areas are marked with yellow lines,” the police said. “We have been painting yellow lines for marking the parking zones along the main roads in the city over last few days. Those wanting to park their vehicles on these roads have to keep their vehicle inside these lines. Vadodara: If you plan to travel in your car to busy areas in the city, make it sure that you park your vehicle right behind the yellow line marked for parking. Vadodara: If you plan to travel in your car to busy areas in the city, make it sure that you park your vehicle right behind the yellow line marked for parking. If your vehicle is seen even slightly out of the yellow line, chances are that your car will either be towed away or locked. After conducting a series of educational programmes for driving discipline in the city, police began cracking down on those violating the traffic rules. And streamlining vehicle parking is on top priority now. “We have been painting yellow lines for marking the parking zones along the main roads in the city over last few days. Those wanting to park their vehicles on these roads have to keep their vehicle inside these lines. A slightest of violation will be penalized. The idea is to ensure that people don’t park their vehicles haphazardly,” said Amita Vanani, ACP (traffic).Daily, the traffic cops have been earmarking parking zones in areas like Alkapuri, Old Para Road, Akota, Sayajigunj, Fatehgunj, Ellora Park and old city areas. “Crossroads and roundabouts witness major traffic jams in busy areas during peak hours. So, we have earmarked the 50-metres of road near 24 roundabouts as no parking and no stopping zone. This will ensure smooth flow of vehicles,” Vanani added. The police currently has 19 towing vans for two-wheelers and four for cars apart from the locks. Traffic cops said people often avoid parking their vehicles either in the parking lot or designated areas. In commercial hubs like Alkapuri and Sayajigunj, parked cars occupy a big space on main road and cause traffic jams.“We have been constantly running educational campaigns to spread awareness about the designated parking areas and also appealing to commuters for using the parking lots in commercial complexes. Our drive against haphazard parking will be intensified once all the areas are marked with yellow lines,” the police said.
