Vadodara: The detection of crime branch (DCB) on Wednesday arrested a man for selling off property of a NRI woman outside her knowledge.Dilip Patel was accused of cheating by 67-year-old Lopa Dave who owns a property on Old Padra. Dave told the crime branch that Patel prepared a power of attorney and sold her property worth crores to one Dharam Veersinh Jadeja for Rs 72 lakh.Name of one of the prominent realtors, Veer Patel too has been mentioned by Dave in her FIR. Dave told the cops that she owns the property jointly with her aunt Prabha.“Dilip met Dave’s another uncle Ramniklal and aunt Sunanda and used their power of attorney to sell off her property. Dave said that the property was owned jointly and so Ramniklal can’t sell it off alone,” said Jaydeepsinh Jadeja, DCP (crime).Dave also told the police that Ramniklal had given her a power of attorney in June 2015 and mentioned that any earlier power of attorney granted by him stands cancelled.“But Dilip used the earlier power of attorney made in 2012 to sell off the land. It was a conspiracy to usurp the property for throwaway price. The documents used to make the deal were not genuine,” Jadeja said.Dave learnt about it when she got a call from her office in the city. “Veer Patel of Lilleria Real Estate Developers went to Dave’s office and asked for the property to be vacated as it was sold. He is being questioned about the case,” Jadeja added. While Dilip has been arrested, the other two accused Dharam Veersinh Jadeja and Sunanda have been booked for cheating. The police said that Dilip has been in 2014 booked in a similar case of selling off a land that he didn’t own. An offence was registered against him and four others at Manjalpur police station by Anil Patel.
