Around 60 cheated in last four months says GCMMF

Vadodara: According to a top official of the Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), at least 60 individuals from across the country, have been duped by scamsters who made fake promises in the name of Amul.“These miscreants, who are having malicious intent of exploiting individuals across India with fake promises of business opportunity with Amul, have robbed individuals across India and all age groups of their money,” the GCMMF official said.The miscreants have been running paid advertisement on Google search engine against keywords such as Amul franchisee, Amul parlour and Amul distributor among many others.Upon opening these fake websites, individuals are required to fill forms, after which they receive calls from unknown numbers to pay registration fees ranging from Rs 25,000 to Rs five lakh via NEFT in various bank accounts.Post receipt of the payment, the individuals stop receiving all forms of communication from these miscreants.“We had raised this issue with Google India and had sought their help to stop such miscreants from using their platform through paid advertisements,” the official said.“We had also submitted all the legal documents pertaining to copyright over brand Amul and various brand names of our products under guidance of Google India team, to prevent any miscreant from using ‘Amul’ keyword based ads on the Google search engine,” he said.“GCMMF had also complained to the portals from where these fake website domains were being purchased.
