Vadodara: A constable of Karjan police station was stabbed by rioters on Tuesday evening at Juna Bazaar area of Karjan town.On Wednesday, police arrested 23 persons of 28 who were booked for rioting and attempt to murder late on Tuesday night. Police said that the victim cop Jaga Rabari and head constable Rajendrasinh Vaghela had received information about a clash between two groups over kite flying.When they reached there, two big groups of people were involved in rioting with wooden sticks and iron rods. Vaghela said that when he and Rabari tried to intervene, the groups accused them of being biased.Within no time, the rioters surrounded and started shouting at the two policemen. Vaghela stated in his complaint that before they could react, one of the rioters Yuvraj Devipujak stabbed Rabari on the neck. Rabari collapsed due to the injury.Later, other cops from Karjan police station reached there and rioters dispersed seeing them. Rabari was rushed to a private hospital in Karjan town.“He is recovering. We have arrested 23 people and the remaining will also be nabbed soon,” said sub-inspector R G Desai of Karjan police station.Besides Vaghela’s complaint, two other complaints of rioting were also registered by the two groups against each other.
