Vadodara: Take a ‘musical’ walk while exploring heritage at MSU

VADODARA: This Sunday, the iconic Faculty of Performing Arts of M S University famously known as music college will come to life for heritage lovers.For the first time, a heritage walk exclusively dedicated to the Faculty of Performing Arts will be organised for heritage lovers by the faculty officials under the ‘Explore MSU : Route to our Roots’ series – initiated by MSU’s Office of Alumni Affairs.So far, the faculty located near Sursagar lake in the heart of the old city, has been covered under many heritage walks. But most of the time, the heritage lovers just take a look at the heritage building and return.For the first time, the heritage walk will not only showcase the architectural aspects of the faculty but also enthral the participants with live performances, department-wise.The heritage walk will start at 9 am from the main entrance after which the participants will be guided to the concert hall of Department of Dance where live performance will be held.The heritage walk will cover vocal classes of Department of Vocal Music, a visit to open air theatre where Department of Dramatics will present a live performance followed by a tabla exhibition display in tabla class.The heritage lovers will be able to watch live kathak classes arranged by Department of Dance, watch music being played at the sabha gayan vadan khand, violin being played at the violin class of Department of Instrumental Music and a tour to recording studio to watch the sound and music archives.Also, the participants will be guided to the library inside the faculty, instruments museum , the wardrobe of Department of Dramatics, the iconic playbox and enjoy sitar being played in classes of Department of Instrument Music.While head of Department of Indian Classical Vocal Music Dr Rajesh Kelkar will lead the walk, information about the respective departments will be given by the department heads.
