Cash ornaments worth Rs 5 lakh stolen from traderrsquos house

On checking further it was learnt that the cash and ornaments kept in a locker inside the safe were missing.Police said that gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 1.2 lakh, Rs 3.5 lakh cash and a mobile phone were stolen. Three iron safes kept in a room were also found open.The valuables kept inside the safe were lying scattered on the floor. He then went upstairs where he found that an attempt had been made to break the house door’s lock. VADODARA: Burglars decamped with cash , ornaments and other valuables worth Rs 4.8 lakh from a furniture trader’s house in Dabhoi town on Monday night.The house was broken into when the complainant Shabbir Mahudawala and his family were in Khambhat to offer prayers at a tomb.Mahudawala told police that when the family returned home at Monday midnight the lock on the main gate was broken. But when the burglars could not break it, they entered through the window right beside the door.

He then went upstairs where he found that an attempt had been made to break the house door’s lock. But when the burglars could not break it, they entered through the window right beside the door. Three iron safes kept in a room were also found open.The valuables kept inside the safe were lying scattered on the floor. Mahudawala’s driver told police in his statement that he had visited the house around 6 pm in the evening, but on finding the lock on the main gate, he returned.Mahudawala’s neighbour Ayeshabanu Mahudawala informed that she had noticed a van waiting outside their house around 8 pm. But since she did not find anything unusual, she did not raise an alarm.
