Vadodara: A family from Vadodara did not think twice before doing away with fanfare and dancing during a marriage procession on Friday. The procession paid homage to the martyrs of the Pulwama terror attack.Swapnil Kapadiya, a resident of Gorwa, was to marry his beau Angelica on Friday. The wedding had been planned about three months back and a band was also booked for the wedding procession of the groom.“In wake of the Pulwama attack, we decided to have a sombre procession. The participants first prayed for the departed souls by observing a two-minute silence at the beginning of the procession near the Swaminarayan temple in Vasna,” said Dinesh Kapadiya, uncle of Swapnil. Dinesh was managing the wedding as Swapnil’s father is no more.The participants in the procession were carrying banners paying tributes to the brave hearts. The band played only patriotic songs till the end of the procession and nobody danced. Only a couple of classic sober wedding songs were played when the procession reached the venue for the wedding.“Everything was in place for the wedding and it would have been difficult to call it off. In wake of the situation, we decided to do whatever little we could to ensure that it was sober,” said Dinesh.
